It happens to all of us. You are doom-scrolling on Instagram at 11 PM. You see a really cool gadget or a t-shirt you like. You think, “I’ll check that in a second.” Then your finger slips. You accidentally refresh the feed. Poof. The ad is gone.
You try searching for “cool t-shirt” but you can never find that specific brand again.
The good news is that Instagram does keep a history of ads you’ve seen. The bad news is that they hide it deep in the “Accounts Center” menus. Here is exactly how to dig it up on Android and iPhone.
The Secret Menu: “Recent Ad Activity”
Instagram has a hidden log of every ad you have interacted with in the last 90 days.
The Path (Updated for 2026 UI):

Go to your Profile and tap the Menu (≡) in the top right.

Tap Accounts Center (The big box at the very top).

Scroll down to Ad preferences.

Tap Recent ad activity.
Here, you will see a grid of images. These are the ads you recently engaged with. You can click on any of them to reopen the link and finally buy that thing you lost.

The Crucial Catch: “Clicked” vs. “Viewed”
Here is the hard truth that most other blogs won’t tell you: Instagram ONLY saves ads you “Interacted” with.

If you Liked, Commented, Saved, or Clicked the ad: It WILL be in this list.

If you just paused and looked at it (but didn’t touch it): It will NOT be in this list.
If you literally just scrolled past it without touching the screen, that ad is likely gone forever into the void of the algorithm.
How to Find Ads You Didn’t Click (The “Hail Mary”)
If the ad isn’t in your “Recent Activity” list, you have one last hope. You can try to trigger the algorithm to show it to you again.

Go to your Explore Page.

Search for the general category (e.g., “Leather Boots”).

Click on 3-4 posts that look similar to the ad.

Close Instagram and wait 10 minutes.

Open it again. The algorithm often panics and thinks “Oh, he’s looking for boots!” and will likely re-serve you the top-performing ads in that category—which might be the one you lost.
Pro Tip: Never Lose an Ad Again
Since we know the “History” feature is imperfect, here is the habit you need to build:
The “Save” Button is your best friend. You don’t need to buy the product right now. Just tap the Bookmark Icon on the ad.

This saves it to your private “Saved” folder.
